So I bought a new lipstick the other day.
I've been using the same brand and color for several years now and have been satisfied but recently I got the bug for something new.
A Jazzercise friend had a very fetching color on which caught my attention last week and I went into obsession mode rather quickly.
After a little confusion about the specific color name I purchased said lipstick at Macy's.
Yea!!!
Some time ago in a blog far, far away I asked y'all if you finished off the old (tube/box/liquid, etc.) before opening up the new whatever. Your answers were intriguing.
I faced a similar feeling but not exactly the same with this new lipstick.
I didn't have an issue with putting the old lipstick away - not really away, away - just on the back burner. Ya never know when it will come in handy.
The emotion I realized I had with the new lipstick was the cheap thrill I got with the first application.
I had to try it "on for size" in the store using a Qtip so when I actually used the recently purchased one for the first time I almost got goose bumps.
Looking at the shape of the stick itself knowing after a few wears it would never look the same was what brought this blog to fruition.
I had the same feeling when I bought my blusher (remember when we used to call it rouge?).
There was nothing new about the blusher. It's the same brand and the same color that I've had for many years - just the brand new look of it when I opened it up. Waiting for my finger to sweep across it for the first time. Hard to describe.
Is this weird? I know I'm not totally alone in this.
It's a make-up thing so, for the most part, it's a lady thing but I'm thinking guys have to have a similar emotion regarding . . . tools?
That's probably sexist on my part but I'd like to know.
