"Madcat" Blues - blew me away

I know I've been a bit obnoxious about the Blues but . . . my, oh, my I do so love the Blues.

Last night, once again, Fennville came through with fantastic music.  Pete "Madcat" Ruth killed it.  He was joined by three other outstanding musicians that filled out the sound and transformed the lower level of Fennville's library (horrid weather predicted) into a funky Blues bar - minus the booze and cigarette smoke.  Yea!

Madcat is famous (ultra) for his harp but here he is playing the electric ukelele.  And the guy can sing the hell out of the Blues, too.  He's the whole package.

I know these guys were introduced last night but I can't remember their names - except Mark on the bass.  Sorry.  The steel guitar/lead guitar was amazing, though.  And the drummer was excellent.  So much fun to watch.

Ok, here's where things get a little wonky.  I decided I needed video so I pressed that little red dot on the back of my camera.  After I got a bit of Madcat I thought it would be brilliant to get a close up of the steel guitar.  I'd missed doing that (too embarrassed) when Sister Wilene was in Fennville and I thought this was an opportunity I was not going to miss.  I didn't, however, pause the camera while I dragged myself over to Drew "Captain Midnight" (Petey just reminded me of his name) so you'll see some "carpet coverage."  Sorry.

Here's another video of Madcat gettin' his Blues thing on.

There are two more concerts in Fennville this summer.  A Latin group will perform on July 23rd and a Bluegrass band will be there  August 6th.

Go!

  1. I was going to ask you how the concert was. And to think I was sitting in the long, long, long, long, long and RIDICULOUS "Lone Ranger" movie. Let me sing you the blues.

    1. The Blues transport me to . . . well, I'm not sure where, but it's a great trip.
So you take your motor home to the fest and just stay? How cool is that.
I'll give the Mount Baker gig a look.
I'm glad you're enjoying my blog, Jim.
